Evaluative and Advisory Support to Encourage Innovative Teaching - Engineering

The EASEIT-Eng project (1998-2002) was part of the third phase of the Teaching and Learning Technology Programme funded by the English and Northern Irish HE Funding Councils. EASEIT-Eng aimed to assist engineering academics in selecting learning technology material, for use in their teaching, that was right for both them and their students. To achieve this aim, the project:

• Established a standardised evaluation method for engineering learning technology materials and produced an evaluation manual.
• Completed 55 case studies and 44 reviews covering 60 different packages.
• Published relevant papers in subjects including a survey of learning technology material in use, securing lecturers' involvement, a case study assimilation and obtaining sponsorship for projects.

The project was led by Professor Steve Rothberg and Fiona Lamb from Loughborough University. The consortium members were LTSN Engineering and the Universities of Heriot-Watt, Hertfordshire, Hull, Northumbria and Surrey. The project was formally supported by the UK's Professional Engineering Institutions.
